MuzikJunky This prodigiously gifted artist’s audacious experiment with Olivier Messiaen-esque semi-tonality and odd time signatures in a pop context is nothing short of masterful, showing and proving definitively that he is a true musical genius. This is well worth your time, as is the case with his entire discography. The more avant-garde his music gets, the better off we all are. Would be a great single if it was on 7-inch vinyl.

nick121235 The title song, D. Shaver, is a slow burn. Dense and atnospheric, this psychedelic track sedately builds later upon later until it reaches a terrifying frenzy.
The second track, Night at Samuel's, is even more dark. The bell like sounds that create the backbone of the song add an eerie vibe. This song draws from so many influences that it can only remind me of the krautrock experimentations of bands like Faust- a comparison solidified by the spoken word samples.
Both songs are quite well done and especially enjoyable if you're into more experimental psychedelic rock.

obsoleteearthling_14 These two tracks, which are chaotic and experimental at times, are enjoyable to listen to when you want a shorter dose of rosa.. They took me a few listens which should not be surprising as they use many instruments and are quite complex. Daniel Shaver with its ethereal vocals, begins slowly, the harsh synth really quite at odds with anything on the preceding album. Night at the Samuel's contains looped vocal samples and has some great drums and drumming styles later on as the track develops. Favorite track: Night at the Samuel's.

about

This EP contains two songs that didn't have a home on Monastery because they were much too dark and abstract. They're probably difficult to get through, but they needed to be released anyway.
